We started off another month filled with great expectation at what God was going to do through all of our team. We had the privilege of being able to hand out this month many warm 2nd hand clothes to the needy, and of course our project we are running that is for handing out booties, hats and clothing to orphaned / destitute / sick babies here in South Africa. We also visited many churches and conferences.
Local Park Outreach
On the 8th June our ministry went and had an outreach to the homeless people that lived outside in the park only a few km from where we lived. That very day before on the 7th June, we felt God leading us to them, and so we went and handed them all out a huge rubbish sack fill of some warm woolly jerseys and pants.
There were about 20 people there this first day.
These people had absolutely nothing but the clothes on their back - most of which were now soaked as we had just had our first heavy rain for the past 3 months, and on top of that - we had a winter cold front move up from the south and was very strongly over the area.
Des and Bennet both spoke a short word for the people and gave an alter call to receive Jesus, of which they all came forward and received.
After ministering and giving them the clothes, all our team felt very strongly pressed on our hearts to try and bring them all some food etc, as they had nothing.
That same afternoon we went out shopping and brought 50kg's mealie-meal, cabbages, spinach, matches, oranges and 30 blankets.
We also had the privilege of being able to hand out EHCSA booklets about God once again. We distributed it evenly into 30 bags thinking that we should hopefully have enough, should more people join them, as that 1st day we went to them there was only about 20 of them.......... WE WERE SOOOOO WRONG!!
The next day when we visited and went back to the people again, there was now 46 people waiting expectantly.
We had one local girl from Pretoria join our team (Megan) on the 2nd day, and she spoke the interpretation of English into Afrikaans for the people. Both Des and herself preached a good message and then once again put out an alter call to receive salvation. Many again came forward and received Jesus into their life. Des and Megan then proceeded to lead them in the sinners prayer and spoke to them about their new commitment to Christ.
We then proceeded after the spiritual side of things to hand out all the food, more clothing and blankets to the destitute living outside in the park, suffering and in need.
I just want to say at this point that many Christians think that if you manage to get sponsorship - then you can go out and do the work of the Lord - I just want to say that that thinking is a lie from the devil!!
Doing the work of the lord WILL indeed cost you! It will be a sacrifice. We ourselves, when we went and brought all these items did not have any sponsorship from anyone, but rather all of us chipped in and gave freely out of our own pockets. Our whole team is made up of missionaries that don't have any stable income, but instead live 100% by faith! .......Yes, it did cost us, but then - look at the cost that Jesus made when he died for you and I, what measure of sacrifice was he prepared to make??
I want to put out a challenge to all of the readers out there today and ask:
- what sacrifice are you prepared to make in order to take the gospel out to a lost and dieing world?
- How far will you go outside of your comfort and safety zone?
- Are you scared to leave the four walls of your church building?
- What can you do as a believer of Jesus Christ to go out and share with those that do not know?
I don't want to sound like I'm judging anyone today, but rather as I previously mentioned - I just want to challenge you! There is a big world out there people and a very great need! How can you play a part and contribute??
Isaiah 60: 1-3
Arise and shine, because your light has come, and the glory of the lord rises upon you. See darkness covers the earth - and thick darkness is over the people, but the Lord rises on you, and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light and kings will be drawn to the brightness of your sunrise.
Planning of Crusades
We have been trying to plan some more crusades for this season up in the northern province. (from Pretoria right up to the boarder line of Zimbabwe).
We have one Evangelist from right up the top of the country working with us to help plan future events up there helping us reach out into more of the rural and untouched areas. We also have various Pastors from different other regions working with us to also help put things together.
Hospital Evangelism
We have been going and ministering a number of times now in the Pretoria state Academic Hospital. Des lead one team of guys this last time and went to the rest of the hospital while Ros lead one team of ladies to the maternity ward again. Every trip we take to the hospital, our team in general seems to be growing. Those that have come with us are all really excited in God as they have seen healing miracles take place before their own eyes and now have such a fire within them when they realize that God can use them to pray for the sick and lead others to Christ.
The passion is really growing amongst our team members with all of them wanting to share with their friends about what is happening, and to come and join us again to do more.
(This baby was born premature. Little Daniel received a lovely hat and pair of warm booties)
Ros also handed out some warm wooly baby's clothing, baby blanket, x2 pairs of booties, warm singlets and a hat to a mother that lived in a homeless shelter in a caravan and was about to give birth any day now, but had nothing.
Leadership Conference
We went up to the top of Soshenguve township for a week long Leadership Conference.
Both Des and Bennet preached on leadership and a few other various topics.
Our first night we were there - there was absolutely NO power, and so Des preached a powerful message via candlelight. We certainly didn't need electricity that night as the fire of God was burning so strong and bright for the people.
(The power finally came on near the end of his sermon.) Overall, there was a general good response from those that attended for the week, and a good change in the hearts of the people.
RAIN DOWN!
Why it's dry and your low
You're feeling thirsty again
Need something to drink
But find nothing in your hand
When you can't find your way
& are cutt'n really bad
Look to Jesus - Jesus
For he gave all he had
Chorus/
You're the one - Jesus
Who brings true life
You're the one
Who mends my soul tonight
I need your water, I need your life
I need your spirit
- Ohh God
Rain down on me
The very touch of your rain
Falling on my soul
Your very presence
Gives me peace and makes me whole
I wan'na smell your rain - ohh God
Open my eyes - make me see
How beautiful you are
The fact you died to set me free
Bridge/
Rain spirit of God - rain down on me x2
I need you, I need you, I need you

Witbank Conference
There was a team of 4 that went and ministered in Witbank over a 3 day period. We had a great time there and the people were all very warm, friendly and hospitable. This church was very open to the things of the spirit, and were all very hungry for God!
There was much that happened in this conference, and so it is hard to write down on paper, but one thing I do know - is that the Lord came in a very powerful and direct way that the church in general has not seen for a long time!
There were a healthy number of young people in this church, and one thing I really enjoyed there in Witbank, was that the church flowed as a family with a strong identity in true love.
The children all had their job to do in the services as well as the adults, and you could really see the difference as they sat and felt so much more a part of what was happening in their "family". Des preached some messages that were up to 1 and ½ hours long, but the children all sat there very well disciplined and alert and listened just as strongly and eager as the adults.
It was a lovely atmosphere to be in and enjoy.
Prayer Needs:
¨ People to help sponsor financial support
¨ Pray for the favor with the right publishers to come along and accept the book we are currently writing about our ministry
¨ Favor with the chief, Religious leaders and Government in Elim trust land in the northern province, as we go ahead with a crusade up in that rural region.
¨ Needing workers to come across to South Africa and work with us on a volunteer basis on both short and long term.
