Food Parcels: This project is set up for the purpose of helping to feed those people that are destitute and in great need, such as orphans, elderly and homeless people. For anyone wanting to make a financial contribution into this project, please go to our "Donations" page and write on the Dept reference: Food Parcels Project. Local Park Outreach On the 8th June our ministry went and had an outreach to the homeless people that lived outside in the park only a few km from where we lived. That very day before on the 7th June, we felt God leading us to them, and so we went and handed them all out a huge rubbish sack fill of some warm woolly jerseys and pants. There were about 20 people there this first day. These people had absolutely nothing but the clothes on their back - most of which were now soaked as we had just had our first heavy rain for the past 3 months, and on top of that - we had a winter cold front move up from the south and was very strongly over the area.
Des and Bennet both spoke a short word for the people and gave an alter call to receive Jesus, of which they all came forward and received. After ministering and giving them the clothes, everyone on our team felt very strongly pressed on our hearts to try and bring them all some food etc, as they had nothing. That same afternoon we went out shopping and brought 50kg's mealie-meal, cabbages, spinach, matches, oranges and 30 blankets. We also had the privilege of being able to hand out EHCSA booklets about God once again.
We distributed it evenly into 30 bags thinking that we should hopefully have enough, should more people join them, as that 1st day we went to them there was only about 20 of them. WE WERE SOOOOO WRONG!! The next day when we visited and went back to the people again, there was now 46 people waiting expectantly. We had one local girl from Pretoria join our team (Megan) on the 2nd day, and she spoke the interpretation of English into Afrikaans for the people. Both Des and herself preached a good message and then once again put out an alter call to receive salvation. Many again came forward and received Jesus into their life. Des and Megan then proceeded to lead them in the sinners prayer and spoke to them about their new commitment to Christ.
We then proceeded after the spiritual side of things to hand out all the food, more clothing and blankets to the destitute living outside in the park.
There is a big world out there people and a very great need!
Isaiah 60: 1-3 Arise and shine, because your light has come, and the glory of the lord rises upon you. See darkness covers the earth - and thick darkness is over the people, but the Lord rises on you, and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light and kings will be drawn to the brightness of your sunrise.
Further feeding of Park people: We were very blessed to receive sponsorship to help in feeding the destitute people that live in the parks etc surrounding Pretoria. We had some maize meal sponsored by Olivetti South Africa. We also received this month food from Woolworths supermarket SA.
On this day we handed out food, there were less people than normal there, (Last time there was at least over 40+ people) so the ones that were there were this day were really excited, as this meant that they then received more food each. They were all very grateful for what was given! Bennet preached the word to the people first, then we prayed for all those that were sick, and then afterwards - handed out the food. |
