Hi everyone, We had a great month of ministry in January, but an even better one in Feb. We are now back – full on!
BIBLES INTO AFRICA Many thanks go out to a very special church in New Zealand for their generous donation into L.E.I of many bibles for underprivileged people that cannot afford one. A huge “thankyou” goes out from the South African people. May the lord bless you richly Thames, for what you have given out and sowed!!
These 2 photos are both taken in different townships. The left one was taken in Refilwe Cullinin, and the right one was taken in Soshenguve township.
HOSPITAL OUTREACH We had a great time going around ministering in the maternity wards of the state owned hospital “Pretoria Academic” . The women were all so excited to receive a gift of booties or a hat for their new baby/s that there were many smiles and much joy in the wards that day!
We also deposited many knitted booties and hats in the ICU for premature babies and many booklets on: THE WAY TO GOD for the mothers there.
TELEVISION SHOOT In early February we were able to go and do a television shoot with the SABC 2 program Life 24/7 at 8.30am here in South Africa. This shoot was based on our new book that is about to come out this year called “Life on the line”.
Here we did some reenactments of some of Des and Ros’s life experiences. We had a great time doing it (although we got quite sun burnt in the process). This reenactment done was about Des’s high jacking in 2002.
BIBLES 4 SICK PASTORS We went and visited the sick in hospital on an outreach this month. While there we came across two sick rural Pastors, and so were able to give them their own full bible (which they never had before).
One received a Tswana bible, and the other a Tsonga bible.
They were both so happy that they almost forgot we were visiting them as they both got straight into the word with big smiles on their faces and much hunger!
PRISON MINISTRY We had a huge turnout of inmates attend our latest outreach into the men’s maximum security prison in Johannesburg. Even before our team arrived, we could all hear them singing in thunderous unison, and very pumped up while waiting for us! The outreach went very well, and had an excellent response for receiving salvation. We deposited into the prison that day 1550 booklets on EHCSA (THE WAY TO GOD) in 5 local languages. Everyone was very grateful to receive the booklets, and still on cloud 9# after receiving the word.
HUMANITARIAN AID We have found handing out food and clothing to everyone that is destitute, living in fields etc to be very rewarding, and yet also on the other hand – a very hard task to be consistently involved with. While we were handing out food to everyone in one of this month’s project areas, it was done this time in the middle of the pouring rain. Still – in spite of the rain we felt we had to go. We all know that African people hate rain - but still – all the people came out running towards the bakkie, and more and more just kept on coming!!
One incident I want to share with you while it was raining is this: As I said, It had been raining constantly for 3 weeks without stopping and everyone living in the fields were all totally drenched and freezing! Well - one little guy that came running out of the long grass was so desperate to make sure he got his food from us that day, that he came out wearing only his wet underwear and a drenched windbreaker.
........No shoes, no shirt, no pants – only underwear!! I know the number of homeless people in S.A is rising very dramatically – but the fact is…..they ARE still here. We can’t just ignore them in their destitute situation.
CLOTHING HAND-OUT We handed out clothing again to various homeless people groups living in the surrounding parks and fields around Pretoria, both in 2nd hand clothing and shoes for the destitute who have nothing. This time however – we had a friend from Norway visiting us (Mike) and so he also was involved in helping. One guy was so excited to finally get some shoes he starting showing them off and dancing in front of the other guys still waiting in line.
They were all really grateful to get some good 2nd hand clothes without holes or stains in them. They kept showing their "NEW" clothes off excitedly to each other. The little guy on the right was so excited that he ended up getting a soccer shirt, that he posed for me on the camera, and then danced with joy after the photo.
VAALWATER HUMANITARIAN OUTREACH We headed up to Limpopo province to the Waterburg region and were then involved in handing out many rubbish sacks full of 2nd hand clothing for rural women and children, held at a local feeding scheme.
The children were all very excited to get some “NEW” clothing while receiving their milk and peanut butter sandwich, and also kept showing the clothes off to one another while many others still waited at the back of the long line.
There were at least 500 children there that day (possibly more) – not to mention all the mothers and older people anxiously waiting!
Please help our L.E.I Trust fund financially so we can help these local children on a regular basis. Thank you!

Pray for OUR NEW BOOK (Life on the Line) for favor with the right publishers, also getting a good review and high distribution internationally.
If you spend yourself in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, your light will rise in the darkness and your night will become like the noonday.
The Lord will guide you always, He will satisfy your needs in a sun scorched land, and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age old foundations, You will be called repairer of broken walls, restorer of streets with dwellings!
