As I read these verses with the students teaching them about devotions, this is what God was teaching me.

Prov 3:3 "Let not mercy and kindness [shutting out all hatred and selfishness] and truth [shutting out all deliberate hypocrisy or falsehood] forsake you; bind them about your neck, write them upon the tablet of your heart. 4 So shall you find favour, good understanding, and high esteem in the sight [or judgment] of God and man." AMP

There are three lenses that we need to view others through: mercy, kindness and truth. Failure to do so will result in judgement, criticism and falsehood.

Interestingly the lens that we view others through will be the same lens that God and man will look at us through.  Hence the encouragement by the writer to bind them around our neck.  We have to choose mercy over hatred, kindness over meanness and truth over the lies.  Look at the results when we do.  Favour, good understanding and high esteem in the sight of God and man.

Hey what is that around your neck?

Blessings.
