This morning in my devotions I read as is my custom the Proverbs for the day and was struck by this verse afresh: Prov 10:22 "The blessing of the Lord--it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it]." AMP Firstly what is the blessing? The original word is: berakah (ber-aw-kaw'); from OT:1288; benediction; by implication prosperity: the KJV translates it - blessing, liberal, pool, present. The Scriptures tell us that children are a blessing from the Lord. I figured money was not what makes us [truly] rich. Besides that was something we could increase by toiling. Blessing is what will prosper and increase us. Below are some Scriptures I discovered that speak of blessing. If you have time for blessing read as many as you want. Obedience results in blessing: Deut 11:26 "Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you today; 28 and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known. NKJV Righteousness comes with blessing: Ps 24:5 He shall receive blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. NKJV God commands blessing Ps 133:3 It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing -- Life forevermore. NKJV Upon our descendants: 2 Sam 7:29 "Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord GOD, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever." NKJV Blessing is for God's people: Ps 3:8 "Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people. "NKJV
He makes our places a blessing and causes showers of blessing: Ezek 34:26 "I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing." There is no sorrow added and you can't increase by your own effort! Blessings
