This morning I was reading Jeremiah.  He is not the kind of prophet to get you off to a good start.  But today he challenged my whole attitude towards the Sabbath.  Look at these verses:

Jeremiah 17:21-22 Thus says the LORD: "Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; nor carry a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath day, nor do any work, but hallow the Sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers."

What is your attitude towards that Sabath?
Do you see it as just like any other day?
Is it special?
How do you make it different?

Jeremiah makes it plain that this day is for worship. I wonder if that includes TV, shopping, sport, going to the beach, doing your own thing?

The Sabbath was to be kept holy. Are our activities in line with God's desire?

I left my Bible with a new respect for God's day which ever one you choose.

P.S.  In Vietnam, during the war, when the Christians were persecuted it was found that those who attended Church twice on Sundays kept their faith, while others renounced theirs!

Blessings
