 September 2005

Hi everyone,
We have had a few very busy months, being involved in many things. We have finally been paid out by our Insurance for the burglary that took place in our home while we were away crusading. We didn’t get paid out in full of what was taken, so there are things such as our cell phone and our laptop computer that they refused to pay out for, so we have since lost on!

tent.jpgElisras Tent Crusade:
We had a very good time as we traveled up to Elisras (on the boarder of Botswana). We held a tent crusade there for a week in a small village approx 60km away from Elisras, in the village of Shongoane.
The chief of this village told us that we were the first people EVER in their history to come and share about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Until we came, the village people had NO ONE come and tell them about Jesus. A few of them knew that Jesus = Church, and that was all they knew! The chief of the village came to every one of our meetings and eagerly sat right up the front for all to see that he was there. On the 2nd night, he came forward to the alter of God and received salvation for the first time. Praise the Lord! The next night he came to the meeting with much thrill and excitement and wanted to share news with his people there. He shared with all the villagers in the tent his testimony of how in the past 20 years he had not been able to sleep very well as he had a leg deformity and many body problems and pain.  He said that he had been to many witchdoctors, normal Doctors and everyone he could to take away the pain – but it wouldn’t leave! That night when he asked Jesus into his heart, the curse over his body was gone and he shared how he slept like a baby with all pain now gone for the 1st time in 20 years! The chief also said that “we need to follow Jesus, the whole village; we need to follow and learn more about this Jesus.
ALL PRAISE BE TO JESUS OUR LORD!

Ministry at Church Camp:
We went to a weekend church camp in Johannesburg and ministered to a group of people there from the Maranatha Church. The ministry went well for Des giving many people words of knowledge, prayer for healing in their bodies, and fresh fire of the Holy Spirit. The ministry was quite broad and more quiet than usual for us, but we felt that the Lord did and achieved what he wanted - and not what we wanted!

Testimony  –  Breathed Life 7 Times:

I was going over some of our older testimonies, and came across this one that happened in Mozambique in the year 2000…….enjoy!

Des ended up doing a lot of physical work on the Vilanculos base in Pambarra, Mozambique (as we had the manager of the base "Pete" & his 2 little sons suddenly come down with bad Malaria, and was unable to work in his job because of feeling so dizzy and delirious).

Brenda (the boys mother) took both the 2 little boys to the local Hospital to get blood tests done for them, and the report came back, was that they both had serial Malaria. (This strain is a very serious case of the Malaria that affects the brain, and can cause serious brain damage - or even death.)
These boys were only 3 & 4 years old, and they both had a massive fever and were very dehydrated.
The doctors advise to the mother was: to somehow get their boys OUT of Mozambique quickly, and back to South Africa for medical care in the next 24 hours, as if their condition did not change - then there was a strong possibility that they could both suddenly die!!
Des prayed while being up there, for Pete & Brenda's 2 little boys and laid hands on them, and spent the rest of that night staying up with them, bathing them to keep their temperature down, and trying to force fluids into them as they were both so dehydrated.
It was a LONG and emotional night, knowing in the back of your mind that if God did not come through - then in the morning these little boys could be dead, ( that night the boys mother also came down with Malaria), so now both these boys parents could do nothing as they were BOTH down with a strain of Malaria, and now Des had to attend them as well.

About 3am in the morning on the Tuesday morning, Brendan (their youngest son) went into convoltions, and physically STOPPED breathing. Des said that he had never prayed and cried out to God in such desperation before... As this little boy was not breathing for at least 4 (four) minutes, tears filled his eyes as he felt so helpless, as he watched this little boy die.

Many things go through your mind at that time & Des said that he remembers questioning God  "WHY"?   He said to God  "Why??  Your word says if we pray for the sick  then they will be healed... why have you left us Lord??

Des said that God then spoke to him and said....."he had NOT left us, God said to Des:  to go and place his mouth over the young boy's mouth - and then  BREATHE  LIFE  into the boy's mouth 7 (seven) times, then this boy would be made whole... Then after that, to SPEAK LIFE over him"!!

Berry (the other guy that went up to Mozambique with Des) and was a qualified medic, Des asked him quickly "was he alive - or dead, was he breathing"??
Berry said to Des ," it's too late... he has not been breathing now for over 5 minutes". So Des went and did immediately what God had told him to do, and then IMMEDIATLEY the boy started coughing, and was breathing normally again, and within the next hour his temperature had come back to normal.
ALL PRAISE BE TO GOD ALMIGHTY!!

The other son did not stop breathing that night, but he still had a high fever and was very delirious.

Later on that next morning they were BOTH up and running about, playing with their little puppy - as though nothing had happened to them. The Malaria fever had broken & was totally gone. We thank the Lord for his faithfulness, and for touching these young boys’ lives and their family.

YES LORD,
YOU ARE MIGHTY!

Thought:
Insecurity is the constant gnawing desire to have more and more.
Confidence is knowing that you already are enough!

Men’s Conference in Soshenguve:
Des went and ministered up in the big township of Soshenguve once again to a cross denominational men’s conference.
There were approximately 800 men there, mostly of which were young men in the age bracket of 18 – 40 years of age.        It was an incredible time as Des spoke to them about the covenant of marriage, sex outside of marriage, managing money, servant hood, and rebellion in the church with the young men (sons) not wanting to serve, and the older men (fathers)  not wanting to build up, train and release the sons.
As Des preached and then had an alter call and ministered to them, there were many tears that flowed in true repentance that day as the sons repented to the fathers and the fathers to the sons. He then got them all to pray for each other and build each other up spiritually.
It was a time of great healing within the body of Christ that day in Soshenguve!

New Evangelism Sponsors:
We need at this time new financial sponsors on a regular basis to help us sow into evangelism work.
Due to circumstances of shifting to another nation, our last main sponsors have had to pull out. We are currently in need of new sponsorship and commitment to our ministry. We have now been sowing here in Southern Africa for 7 years and there are many people that have been receiving our newsletter on a very regular basis for a long time now. People please - it is time to think of sowing further into what you believe in!

How then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?
And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?
And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
And how can they preach unless they are sent?
Romans 10:14

TESTAMONY – HILLBROW:
One Nigerian guy came up to Des and I after the meeting we had ministered at in Hillbrow in the Baptist Church. He testified to us that when we were there last year ministering in this church his sister that was visiting him from Nigeria came forward to the front of the church asking for prayer as she had been trying to have a baby for 8 years now but could not conceive.
Des prayed for her and she rung her brother the very next week to say that she was pregnant. He told us this day that she is back in Nigeria and has since given birth to a healthy baby boy.

PRAISE THE LORD!

sewing.jpg SEWING UPDATE:
I wanted to give you an update of the work that has been going on since the launch in May this year with the machines that were donated by our L.E.I AIDS Trust. We donated them to the “Ekukhanyeni Sewing Project” in Refilwe Cullinin. This project is run by End time Harvest Fellowship Church. The Pastor of this church told us that when the ladies received the sewing machines in May they were so excited that they danced around them and sang with great enthusiasm and joy. These ladies are very loyal and committed to their project. I have seen their workmanship and have felt their enthusiasm to learn. They have even been prepared to put as much of their own money in as possible in order to carry on working and learning how to sew. They already have outside orders from the community to make up certain clothing and items. If anyone has any spare material, a sewing machine or over locker lying around and would like to donate them to the sewing project, or – if anyone would like to make a financial contribution to the buying of further sewing machines or material, please contact Ros on the address provided on the front page. Thank you!
With your help, you are playing a key role by being actively involved in community upliftment, evangelism and missions into other countries.
Thank you for partnering with us!
